What is hashish?
Hash is simply a waxy product formed when cannabis trichomes (resin glands) are concentrated and compacted into a solid block. In addition to cannabinoids, hash also contains small amounts of plant material and a host of terpenes that give it its distinctive flavor.
Some people simply smoke it in a pipe or bong. Others shape it with their fingers into a thin hashish "sausage" and place it in a joint for a solid fill. Some people break off small pieces of hashish and place them in a vaporizer, while others prefer to cook it. Hashish is a potent cannabis concentrate—a little goes a long way!
Hash has been used for thousands of years, ever since the first humans noticed this curious, sticky byproduct of the marijuana plant. Trichome resin glands form on the leaves, buds, and branches of the cannabis plant. Typically, the buds are harvested and the remainder is discarded. Most growers simply don't bother making hash from the leaf and trimming waste left over after harvesting. After all, they already have a good supply of high-quality buds. But with a little effort, this residual material can be used to make hash. What's more, you might be surprised at how much hash you can make from leftover plant material. Some growers also process their buds into hash.

Finger Hash: The Original Way to Make Hash
The oldest way to make hash, and probably the original method, is to simply scrape the sticky cannabis resin off your hands after handling marijuana buds or harvesting your home plants. To make hash, you simply rub the marijuana flowers together with your fingers. It's a little messy, but once you've scraped your fingers together, you'll have a potent ball of "finger hash." The friction and heat transfer the sticky cannabis resin from the plant to your skin. From there, you can transfer it to your vaporizer, pipe, or joint.
Hash with Scissors: Make Hash with Scissors at Home Easily
Anyone who has ever harvested their own marijuana plants will be familiar with the hash that quickly accumulates on the shears used to trim your plants and buds. Sometimes, especially with well-grown premium marijuana seed varieties, you'll occasionally need to scrape the hash buildup off your shears or trimmer. Scissor hash is excellent; with all the terpenes from the fresh plant, you'll get a delicious flavor.
