THE STORY OF AMNESIA HAZE
Like almost all classic old-school strains, the exact origin of Amnesia Haze is a mystery, but this is the most widely accepted theory.
American breeder David Paul Watson is said to have created Amnesia in the early 1990s from a cross between Thai, Jamaican, Hawaiian, and Afghan hounds. However, he didn't receive much credit at the time.
It was only when the genetics were brought to Amsterdam that they were further developed and truly began to gain popularity. According to the story, Zwiep, owner of a fertilizer company, crossed the original Amnesia genetics with Nevil's Haze, creating what we know today as Amnesia Haze. At first, Zwiep only made Amnesia Haze available as a clone, but due to its popularity, he decided to make it available as a seed.
She partnered with a seed bank in Spain and released regular and feminized versions of her strain.
This earned it several awards at Cannabis Cups, including first place in 2004 and 2012, making it one of the most popular cannabis strains we know today and one of the top strains available in coffeeshops throughout Amsterdam.
