ORANGE BUD: AN OLD-SCHOOL SKUNK, STRAIGHT FROM THE 80S
This award-winning strain, known as Orange Bud, has been on the cannabis scene for decades. It originated in the 1980s, before all those more sophisticated strains came out. If anyone wants to experience Skunk 100%, this is the strain to go for. This sativa-dominant plant has brought a lot of happiness and laughter for years.
Despite more than 25 years since its introduction, Dutch Passion's Orange Bud is still one of their best-selling strains, found in numerous Dutch coffee shops and a favorite among Orange Skunk selections. How does a strain manage to remain iconic for so long?
In the early days of cannabis breeding programs, there were four main strains that have become the basis for many of the hybrids we find today. These were Haze, Blueberry, Northern Lights, and Skunk. All of these were stable, dominant strains, and, as one of the original Dutch seed banks, we obtained genetic lines from each of them. Dutch Passion was particularly interested in Skunk selections at the time, as they offered top-quality yields of resin-laden buds that were highly potent and unique in flavor and aroma.
Its combination of Afghani Indica, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold has resulted in the Orange Bud genetics. Old-school California smokers love this strain. These buds could be the perfect gift for your cannabis-loving grandma. Without further ado, let's see what Orange Bud has to offer.
More about the History of Orange Bud
This strain had an unusual orange aroma that could be detected even after rubbing your fingers against its buds. The flowers were covered with golden-orange pistils, and its yield was far superior to other Skunk varieties. It was a one-in-a-million clone, and the team fell in love with it, in part because of its potent and wonderful effect, effective against anxiety.
This Orange Skunk clone was developed over the following years until it was introduced to the market in the 1980s. We named it Orange Bud, knowing there was nothing like it in our catalog, and it didn't take long for our customers to comment on how excellent they thought it was. Soon after, it was available in the best coffee shops, where it can still be purchased.
Having developed several cannabis genetics, what makes Orange Bud so special?
Certain very special traits are necessary for a strain to remain on top for so long. In the case of Orange Bud, it's simply the potency that keeps so many coming back. A pinch in a joint or vape pen is enough to feel the effects.
Others prefer it for its high yields of premium marijuana; many of our customers grow cannabis only once or twice a year, so they don't want to take risks with new, untested genetics and choose Orange Bud, knowing it won't let them down. Then there are experts and connoisseurs who want a pure Orange Skunk, uncrossed and unhybridized.
The latter don't grow for money, but to obtain a top-quality product, with the classic Orange aroma and skunky flavor, in addition to its devastating effect. Orange Bud excels in several key aspects, including quality, reputation, consistency, flavor, aroma, and effect. We don't think there's just one reason for its success; rather, it's a combination of reasons that makes it so popular.
Orange Bud, the original Skunk from the 80s
Orange Bud remains the same as it was in the 1980s, something we're sure is related to its success. It's offered in both regular and feminized formats, with 97% being our favorite in the latter. Regular Orange Bud marijuana plants are a favorite among old-school growers, as well as smaller breeders looking to use Orange genetics in their own breeding projects.
