HOW TO HARVEST, CUT, AND CLEAN MARIJUANA

Marijuana is a very popular plant in Spain and around the world, and it's important for growers to understand how to properly harvest, cut, and clean it to achieve the best results. These are the main stages of cannabis harvesting and production.

BEFORE HARVESTING, PREPARE THE SPACE

Choosing the right place to dry your marijuana plants is an important factor in achieving the highest quality buds. You should keep these points in mind when choosing your space.

  1. Aeration: The drying room should have minimal air renewal.
  2. Discretion: Install an odor filtration system for pruning and drying.
  3. Temperature: It should be a place where temperatures do not exceed 27º.
  4. Lightning: Light and air are the main elements that alter marijuana flowers.
  5. Humidity: Clean the room well before placing the plants and try to keep the humidity stable, with maximum values between 55 and 65%.

HOW TO HARVEST MARIJUANA?

Harvesting marijuana correctly is an important part of the cannabis production process. If done incorrectly or harvested prematurely, it can compromise the quality of the final product. The ideal time to harvest cannabis will depend on the type of marijuana you are growing, but there are some general signs that indicate when it's time to harvest the plant. Regardless of the week of the cannabis life cycle you decide to harvest, The perfect time of day to do it is in the morning or, if we are talking about an indoor crop, when the spotlights come onThis is because the plant optimizes its resin production at night.

An important sign to look for is when most of the plant's trichomes have matured.. Trichomes are small crystal-like structures on the cannabis plant, and the change in color of these trichomes from white to a darker brown indicates that the plant is ready to be harvested. Another sign is when The lower leaves of the plant begin to change color and dry outA simple way to determine harvest time is to observe the development of the pistils. The pistils emerge as a pair of white hairs and begin to clump together to form buds. Buds with white pistils are very young. Don't harvest yet! After that, the pistils begin to turn orange, brown, or even pink and remain "upright." As harvest time approaches, most of the pistils are orange or brown and have curled inward toward the buds. This can also happen due to environmental factors, even when the plant isn't yet ready for harvest. A good indicator to start by looking at the trichomes is the perfect way to tell if the plant is ready.

HOW TO CUT MARIJUANA?

Once the marijuana is ready to be harvested, it must be trimmed. This can be done with garden shears or any sharp tool. It's recommended to cut the plant from the base to avoid damaging the buds and trichomes. The goal is to preserve the quality of the plant to the maximumYou can harvest entire plants and/or branches. To do this, we recommend removing the large leaves first. Once the plant is free of the bulkier foliage, it will be much easier to trim the buds. You can remove the large leaves before cutting the plant to help it stand upright and be more comfortable, or afterward, whichever suits you best.

For the right moment of the cut, we could roughly use three indicators:

  • He color of the trichomes (resin drops): We need a microscope or magnifying glass to see that most of the trichomes are whitish and some (10-20 %) are amber; that will be the right time to cut. This method is the only reliable one; the other two are guidelines.
  • The color of the stigmata (white hairs): when most of the hairs are brown (80%) we can guide to know when the plant is mature.
  • Seed bank instructions (flowering time): This will give us an approximate date for when they're ripe and ready to harvest. It's important to be aware of when the plant begins to flower so we can calculate it correctly.

HOW TO CLEAN MARIJUANA?

It is important to clean the marijuana well once it has been cut. This will help improve the flavor of the final product.

There are several ways to clean cut marijuana. The most common method is to use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris from leaves and stems. Once the marijuana is clean, various drying methods can also be used to help enhance the product's flavor and properties.

Some methods for drying marijuana include exposing it to fresh air, using fans to speed up the drying process, placing the marijuana in a bag with the correct contents to prevent moisture, or using a special marijuana drying device.

Additionally, it's important to note that any method of cleaning or drying marijuana should be done in a clean, well-ventilated area to avoid contamination of the final product.
